Car Insurance Peugeot (Car Insurance). Do they still make steam locomotives?Do they still make steam locomotives? Do they still make new steam locomotives as you don't tend to see many of them about, you perhaps see 1 or 2 a year depending on where you go. They are still built, but very rarely for use in the same way electric trains are used. They are usually built as "memorial" pieces or restoration works rather than for heavy commercial use. Reason is simple - it's too expensive to maintain a train like this, and very, very little rails can actually still support a steam locomotive. :) they do but they take about ten years to build, i believe the newest one started being built in 1994 and was finished in 2008 and was named the A1 Tornado. it was featured in april 2009 in a race in BBC's top gear china is building them/coal burners for them selves and india/remote areas use them as diesel fuel is scarce Auto parts : Driving Light Bracket Acura 1995 . I'm looking to a 2nd subwoofer. But It has to be punchy and SPL? I just recently purchases a used JL W7 12" for $300 with a box. I am going to put the sub in my ported box. I love the lows that the sub hits, BUT I listen to a lot of metal and the sub doesn't punch much. SO what I am looking for is a 2nd subwoofer 12" that will be really punchy. FI Audio - They recommended there "FI Q" & "FI SSD" (dual 2 ohm coils) - Pros less expensive than the JLs, have a higher decibel rating. Con I have to wait for them to finish there new models, but that's ok. Because I am still saving. Price about $284 per sub and there is no info yet on there "SSD" model. DD Audio - 2500 series dual 2 ohm voice coils. $400 a piece so pretty pricey Soundstream - T6 12s Cerwin Vega - The stroker dual 2 ohm coils. $400 a pair so pretty pricey. These seem nice. But are they loud along with their high quality? Phoenix Gold - Ti 12 inch dual 2 ohm. $270 a pair. Pros these are long throws. So the bass should be deep? But will it punch nice? Con. He said my box is slightly too big. Rockford Fosgate - T1D212. $250 a piece. Will these be loud? He said this woofer will work fine. I have contacted about 10-15 car audio names and have given them my box specifications and asked which one of there subwoofers will work best. I want it to be loud. With 2 12s @ 880 watts RMS @ 4 ohms per subwoofer. By the way. My box is 2 cubic feet per subwoofer. Each sub gets 2 cubic feet and a slot port that measures 1.5"wide x 10.5" long by 13.5" deep and the box is tuned to 37 hertz. The current woofers I am replacing are 2 12 inch dual 2 ohm Power Acoustik Mofos. I want something better. They were great subs for my 1st system. My car can handle the load to. I have a 90 amp alternator, a XS power D3400 and a Yellowtop D31A. I run @ 13.7 volts with my music all the way up right now. I only listen to music occasionally. So that is plenty of power. Despite what you might think. I need the subs to work with a 4 ohm load of the amps too. Now because of JLs name and price. It makes me feel like they are the loudest and best. But that may not be true. That is why I need your help. Which subs should I pick? Can you give me a top 3 that would sound their best or close in my box? Don't worry about price. HERE ARE THE CHOICES THAT THE COMPANY REPLIED TO ME AND SAID WOULD WORK. BUT HOW WELL WILL THE WORK? SOME OF THE COMPANIES SAID THE BOX IS A LITTLE OFF. WILL THAT BE A PROBLEM? car insurance. Peugeot . How to Bleed an E34 RadiatorThe BMW E34 uses a bleed screw to remove air from the cooling system. While some vehicles use a bottom radiator hose or the radiator cap itself for this job, BMW has chosen this simpler method to bleed the system of air. There are two types of E34 radiators: one with a radiator-mounted expansion tank and one with a separate tank. How you bleed the system will vary slightly according to your specific setup, but in principle the procedure is the same. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Catch pan Screwdriver New coolant (50/50 water and engine coolant)Suggest EditsItem AddWhy is it necessary?DoneRadiator-Mounted Expansion Tank Step by Step : 1 Place the catch pan underneath the radiator. 2 Place your key in the ignition and start the E34's engine. 3 Open the hood. Locate the bleeder screw on top of the expansion tank, which is mounted atop the radiator. Turn the screw counterclockwise with a screwdriver to open it and bleed the cooling system. 4 Open the coolant reservoir tank by turning the cap on the top of the tank counterclockwise. Pour engine coolant into the reservoir when the coolant starts to escape the bleed screw. Continue pouring the coolant into the tank until there are no more air bubbles coming out from around the bleed screw. 5 Close the bleed screw, turning it clockwise with the screwdriver. Shut off the engine. Separate Expansion Tank Step by Step : 1 Loosen the bleeder screw, which is on top of the thermostat housing assembly, by turning it counterclockwise with the screwdriver. The coolant will flow out of the housing without the engine on. 2 Tighten the bleeder screw by turning it clockwise when you no longer see air bubbles coming out of the screw. 3 Set the heat temperature on the HVAC controls inside the car to the hottest setting, and set the fan to the highest speed. 4 Start the engine and let the car run. 5 Open the cap on the coolant reservoir tank by turning the cap counterclockwise and pulling it off the tank. Watch the coolant level, indicated by the marks on the side of the tank, and pour in more coolant if the level drops below the lower mark. 6 Open the bleeder screw again once the E34 has reached normal operating temperature. Then tighten the screw after there are no more air bubbles coming out around the screw. Check the coolant level in the reservoir tank periodically, and refill it to the upper mark on the tank as needed. 7 Repeat Step 6 until all of the air is out of the radiator and cooling system. You may need to repeat the process five or six times to fully bleed the system. Turn off the car.
Peugeot . PT Cruiser Power Steering System Bleeding ProceduresEvery time you need to replace a component or part in the power steering mechanism like the pump, hose or piston, you need to bleed the system. This procedure is necessary to push the air into the steering fluid reservoir and get rid of the noise caused by bubbles in the fluid whenever the steering system is operating. Level CheckCheck the steering fluid level as you bleed the system. Park your PT Cruiser level, open the hood and pull the dipstick from the steering fluid reservoir. The level should be at the Full mark on the dipstick with the fluid between 70 and 80F [21 and 27C]. If necessary, add steering fluid. Let the fluid settle for 2 to 5 minutes, if you had to bring the level up to the Full mark. Then start the engine, let it idle for 5 minutes and then turn it off. Now check the steering fluid level and add some if necessary. Repeat this process until the level remains at the Full mark after turning off the engine. Air Purge Jack up the front of your Cruiser using a floor jack to bring the front wheels barely off the ground and chock the rear wheels. Apply the parking brake and set the transmission to Neutral [manual] or Park [automatic]. Start the engine and fully turn the steering wheel to the left and right five times, gently touching the stops in both directions. Check the steering fluid level and add if necessary. Then lower your Cruiser and turn the steering wheel five times left and right, gently touching the stops in both directions. Turn off the engine. Check and inspect the fluid level and add if necessary. If the fluid is filled with bubbles, let it settle for 5 minutes and then repeat the whole procedure described above until you eliminate most of the bubbles from the system. After relatively brief romances with steam and electricity, the internal combustion engine became the primary source of automotive power. In the United States and many other parts of the world, gasoline is the preferred fuel for passenger vehicles, while diesel fuel often powers trucks and agricultural and construction equipment. In many parts of the world where gasoline is in short supply, most of the passenger vehicles have diesel engines, too. In recent years, environmental concerns about the impact of automotive exhaust on air quality — plus the fact that the world's supply of petroleum is rapidly diminishing — have created an intense effort to develop vehicles that run on alternative fuels. Vehicles that run on liquid gases of various kinds, electric vehicles (EV), and vehicles driven by exotic hybrid engines and fuel cells are being touted as prime candidates for "Car of the Future." The first section of this chapter tells you everything you need to know about vehicles with diesel engines. The rest of the chapter brings you up-to-date on the alternatives that are currently considered to have the most potential for supplanting the internal combustion engine in years to come. 132 Part II: What Makes It Go?. Diesels For Dummies This section is structured as a mini-version of Auto Repair For Dummies devoted entirely to diesel-powered vehicles. It spells out both the advantages and disadvantages of owning a diesel-powered vehicle and explains how a diesel engine works. It also provides instructions for maintaining and troubleshooting diesels and for finding a good diesel mechanic when your best efforts just aren't enough. Although diesel-powered vehicles are almost universal in a large part of the world where gasoline is almost unavailable, diesel engines are used mainly for heavy equipment in the United States and Canada. Diesel-powered cars exist, but — except for a short period in the 1980s, when fuel shortages made them popular because they got 25 percent more miles per gallon than gasoline engines — they have acquired a reputation for being noisy, underpowered, smelly, and cantankerous. This is not always the case, however. Mercedes-Benz, who pioneered the diesel car as a luxury vehicle decades ago, still makes diesel-powered vehicles that many consider unsurpassed for beauty, performance, high resale value, and high price tags. Volkswagen, whose VW Rabbit was the first peppy, moderately priced diesel car, still offers diesel-powered vehicles, and other manufacturers also offer diesel cars and trucks. If you're considering buying a diesel-powered vehicle, take a good look at the next section before you decide. The good and bad about diesels To accurately compare diesel vehicles with traditional gasoline-powered vehicles, you need to consider a number of pros and cons. Peugeot . What are the best shock absorbers for cars?
Pontiac Sunfire. * PRO: Diesels get great mileage. CON: So do vehicles with fuel-efficient gasoline-powered engines, which often cost a couple of thousand dollars less than diesels. You can buy a lot of gas for a couple of thousand dollars! Diesel fuel is not available at many service stations, and although it used to be cheaper than gasoline, it now often costs as much — or more — than gasoline, and it may become even more expensive, depending on availability and demand. PRO: Diesel fuel contains more usable energy than gasoline. CON: Although diesel fuel is considered more efficient because it converts heat into energy rather than sending the heat out the tailpipe as gas-powered vehicles do, it doesn't result in flashy "high performance." A gasoline-powered vehicle is like a racehorse — high-strung, fiery, and fast — whereas a diesel vehicle is more like a workhorse — slow, strong, and (hopefully) enduring. . Chapter 7: Diesels and Alternatively Powered Vehicles 1 22 PRO: Diesels have no spark plugs or distributors. Therefore, they never need a tune-up. Peugeot . You have to change the oil and the air, oil, and fuel filters, and you may need to bleed excess water out of the system. This chapter shows you how to do these things yourself, but if you neglect the maintenance, and the fuel injection system breaks down, you'll probably have to pay a diesel mechanic big bucks to get things unsnaggled. PRO: Diesels are built more ruggedly to withstand the rigors of higher compression. Consequently, they usually go much longer before they require major repairs than conventional vehicles do. (Mercedes-Benz holds the longevity record with several vehicles clocking more than 900,000 miles on their original engines!) CON: Do you really want to hang on to the same vehicle for 900,000 miles? Also, there have been cases where automakers have simply plunked diesel engines into vehicles that were originally designed to be gasoline-powered. Because these vehicles weren't constructed to stand up to the stresses imposed by the high compression that diesel engines require, they suffered failures that contributed to their swift decline in popularity. PRO: Turbocharged diesels have better fuel efficiency and are much more powerful and responsive than traditional diesel vehicles. CON: Turbocharging will probably get cheaper and even more efficient as time goes on, but you can buy a turbocharged, gasoline-powered vehicle and have the advantages of both. PRO: Diesels have become easier to start in cold weather. CON: Although they're better than they used to be, diesel engines are still more difficult to start on cold days than gasoline engines are. PRO: Diesels put out much less carbon monoxide than ordinary vehicles do, which means less air pollution. CON: This is a major misconception. Diesels put out 30 to 90 percent more nitrogen oxides and carbon particles (soot), and recent studies show that diesel emissions can cause cancer. As a result, recent legislation is aimed at getting diesel-powered vehicles off the road completely unless they can find a way to meet increasingly stringent EPA standards. By the time you read this book, the diesel pros and cons may have changed. Government pressure to produce low-emission diesel engines for trucks, buses, and farm and construction equipment by the early 2000s has resulted in increased efforts to develop low-sulfur diesel fuels, specialized catalytic Peugeot .
